About Project Harambee

Project Harambee is the 56th Edinburgh (Davidson’s Mains) BB Company‘s commitment to work with the St Andrew's School, Oloolua, Ngong, Kenya to deliver a number of innovative projects.  The School's aim is to be financially self sufficient.  These project include establishing a small farm in the school grounds to teach children how to care for cows, chicken and crops.  The milk, eggs and vegetables will be sold in the local market to generate income for the school.  We are also aiming to establish a plastic recycling facility at the School – this will generate further income for the School.

Why 'Harambee'?

'Harambee' was chosen for the project name as in Swahilli (one of the official languages in Kenya) it literally means "all pull together". We felt this was an appropriate name for the project in recognition of our working together with our Kenyan friends at the School and the Oloolua Parish Church.

Why the St Andrew's School?

The project follows on from Project Stedfast which the 56th was involved in. The aims of Project Stedfast was to raise funds to help the Boys' and Girls' Brigades of Oloolua Parish Church in Ngong, Kenya, to establish a school and residential centre for children with disabilities.

Where is the St Andrew's School?

The school is located in Ngong, south west of Nairobi.
