Latest news from the project...

April 2010

Last year the 56th Edinburgh BB Company successfully passed our target and the money was transferred to the St Andrew School last January.  The money was very appreciated by the School at a time of tight financial pressure.  Thank you very much to everyone who donated to the Project last year.

This year the Company is continuing to support the School during its formative years. A publicity stall was held at our Coffee Morning on the 13th March, which generated some donations.  Our Anchor Boys and Junior Section will be having a sponsored walk on the 24th May.  The weekend 19th and 20th June will present a major fundraising opportunity for the Company.  We are planning to hold a tombola and home-baking stall at the Davidson's Mains' Children Gala on the Saturday.  The following day, between 12 noon and 6pm the Company will be packing bags for the shoppers for donations at the Asda superstore in Chesser.

The another main event being planned this year is our return trip to Kenya in October.  Everyone involved in the trip is really looking forward to visiting the St Andrew School in Olloolua.  You can view the latest photographs of the School, children and teachers in the Gallery section on the Project's website.  The website also will also have further details about our fundraising efforts and our trip.

If you are on Facebook, please consider joining the Project Harambee group for regular updates on the project.

Thank you for your support to date and we hope that you will continue to support us.

October 2008

Four members from the 56th visited Kenya and St Andrew's School to see the progress that has been made with the building work of the disabled centre. All had a wonderful experience meeting with the school staff, the church and more importantly the children. During our visit, we announced that the 56th would commit to raising money each year for the next five years to support the cost of a teacher. This news was warmly welcomed by everyone in the church. A report of the visit is available on the 56th website.
